Shortly after taking office, President Donald Trump tasked the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) with eliminating waste and abuse.

However, one Democrat recently declared that a House caucus which was created to work with DOGE is all but "dead."

"It's defunct. We haven’t met in months"

According to Fox News, that allegation was put forward by Florida Democratic Rep. Jared Moskowitz when he spoke with Politico earlier this week.

"The DOGE caucus is dead," Moskowitz was quoted as saying. "It's defunct. We haven’t met in months. We only had two total meetings in five months."

"And we weren’t involved at all in anything [happening at DOGE], which Elon was in charge of. Zero. Zilch. Nada. [Musk] did it all on his own," Moskowitz stressed.

Moskowitz claims that caucus members were misled

"DOGE was a complete failure. Complete failure. Nothing has been made more efficient," the lawmaker went on to assert. Moskowitz also maintains that DOGE Caucus members had been misled into thinking that they would have influence over DOGE's decision making.

"Yes, that’s what the three congressional chairs of the DOGE Caucus [Bean and Reps. Pete Sessions (R-Texas) and Blake Moore (R-Utah)] told us," remarked.

"They told us that they were going to work with us. They told us these things would come through Congress. None of it happened," the Florida Democrat complained.

However, Fox News noted that Florida Republican Rep. Aaron Bean serves as the DOGE Caucus' co-chair, and he pushed back on Moskowitz's claim.

DOGE Caucus's co-chair says it is "alive" and "fully engaged"

"The DOGE Caucus is alive, well, and fully engaged. We have been actively working behind the scenes to push forward critical reforms through One, Big Beautiful Bill that will safeguard America’s financial future," Bean said in a statement provided to Fox News.

"From stopping Medicare benefits from going to illegal immigrants to fighting duplicative payments in the Earned Income Tax Credit to fighting improper payments at HHS, the caucus continues to lead on key policy initiatives," he continued.

"In addition, we have discussed codifying the DOGE cuts through the recissions process with senior White House officials, including Vice President Vance, OMB Director Vought, and Elon Musk," Bean insisted.

The Florida Republican went on to say that DOGE Caucus members "are here for the long haul, and our work is far from finished."
