The details
"Federal law protects whistleblowers from retaliation, and efforts to intimidate these whistleblowers raise serious concerns about potential obstruction of the Committees’ investigation," the letter reads.
"Accordingly, we request information about any attempts by Hunter Biden’s legal team to encourage the Department to take action against IRS whistleblowers Gary Shapley and Joseph Ziegler," it added.

A 'brazen effort'
"Hunter Biden’s legal team is engaged in a brazen effort to intimidate and harass the brave Internal Revenue Service (IRS) whistleblowers who exposed numerous apparent irregularities in the Department’s investigation of Hunter Biden," the lawmakers wrote to Garland, according to the Washington Examiner.
"They referenced a report by the New York Times in which the outlet said it had reviewed 'more than 200 pages of confidential correspondence' between special counsel David Weiss and Biden's lawyers," it continued.
“Without evidence” — Hunter was running an influence peddling scheme, raking in millions. His father has made false statements re: his own knowledge & involvement, w/ evidence mounting. Connected to impeachment
"House investigators from the Ways and Means, Judiciary and Oversight Committees will be leading the impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden, House Speaker Kevin McCarthy said Tuesday. The committees continue to investigate Shapley and Ziegler’s accusations alongside House Oversight’s probe into Hunter Biden’s foreign business dealings," the Daily Caller reported.
"Garland’s deadline for releasing the records requested by House investigators is Sept. 25, 2023, the letter says. The Justice Department previously rejected House investigators’ efforts to subpoena witnesses to an alleged Oct.7, 2022, meeting Shapley revealed in his testimony," it added.
The news comes as impeachment proceedings against President Joe Biden were announced this week.
McCarthy is expected to lead the movement that will pursue articles of impeachment against Biden in the House, though the effort is unexpected to pass in the Senate.
The latest push by the committee may find more details in Hunter Biden's case as the investigation seeks to discover more facts behind what really happened in his role.
