House GOP leaders press for Special Counsel Hur to testify about Biden's memory issues

Special Counsel Robert Hur's bombshell report regarding President Joe Biden's classified documents probe was one of the worst things that could have happened to the president at this time.

In the report, Hur declined to charge Biden for his actions, saying he was a "well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory" who probably wouldn't be convicted by a jury.

Republicans seized on the report in recent days and, according to the Daily Mail, are now in the process of having Hur testify to ask if "the president is unfit to serve."

House Republicans aim to have Hur testifying by the end of the month, spelling massive trouble for Biden presidential campaign.

What's going on?

House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-KY), House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan (R-OH), and House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Jason Smith (R-MO) sent a letter to U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland requesting information.

The GOP lawmakers demanded "all documents and communications, including audio and video recordings, related to the Special Counsel’s interview of President Biden."

The primary issue is that if Biden's memory is too "hazy" and "poor," according to Hur's report, many believe he's not fit to serve as the president of the United States.

More apparent each day

It's an issue that has already been raised numerous times, especially as Biden continues to gaffe his way through the presidency, with his old age becoming more apparent by the day and by each mistake and misspoken sentence.

Republicans will keep those concerns in the headlines as they continue to push for Hur's testimony and the documents related to the depositions in Biden's classified documents case.

The Daily Mail noted:

The GOP chairman are seeking to make use of Biden's angry press conference, where he said his memory was 'fine' shortly before botching the country of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.

It's getting serious

The three Republican leaders made it clear that they wanted the documents they had requested and threatened to use congressional subpoena power to receive them if necessary.

"Given the seriousness of these matters, the Committees are prepared to compel the production of this material if necessary," the Republican leaders wrote.

They've also reportedly been in touch with Hur about testifying by the end of February. Hur has reportedly already retained a lawyer.

This is an absolutely devastating time for Biden to have to deal with his age-related issues. Democratic voters were already weary about it, and it looks like the issue will soon become much worse for Biden's campaign team.
