“From the day he took office, President Biden has waged a war on American energy, and hardworking families are the ones paying the price,” House Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-LA), who sponsored the bill, said.
“The Lower Energy Costs Act will increase American energy production, reform our broken permitting process, reverse the Biden Administration’s radical anti-energy policies, streamline our energy exports and imports, and boost the mining of critical minerals," he added.

"This is a historic day for America. This is about putting American workers first. This is about putting American families first, as we work hard to lower the cost of energy prices," Rep. Elise Stefanik added.
Florida Rep. Byron Donalds (R) wrote that the bill was an example of promises kept by the GOP.
"The @HouseGOP kept our promise to revive American energy independence & dominance," Donalds tweeted.
"Thanks to the leadership of @SpeakerMcCarthy, we passed the Lower Energy Costs Act with bipartisan support," he added. "It's time to get our country back on track!"

The bill now moves to the Senate where it will face a battle that could see some Democrats join to pass the legislation.
President Joe Biden has announced plans to veto the GOP-led measure, however, meaning that the bill could come to an abrupt end without an override from Congress.
The situation is one of several examples of Biden administration policies that push an agenda that hurts the American people and the economy due to the president's decisions.
