House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer issued subpoenas as part of impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden

According to USA Today, the subpoenas were sent out on Wednesday to Hunter Biden and his uncle James Biden. A third subpoena was issued to Rob Walker, who is a close business associate of Hunter Biden.

Comer points to "influence peddling schemes"

"The House Oversight Committee has followed the money and built a record of evidence revealing how Joe Biden knew, was involved, and benefitted from his family's influence peddling schemes," Comer was quoted as saying in a statement.

"Now the House Oversight Committee is going to bring in members of the Biden family and their associates to question them on this record of evidence," he added.

The House Oversight Committee posted a video clip on the social media platform formerly known as Twitter which showed Comer signing the subpoenas.

Additional subpoenas issued

The House Oversight Committee also put out a statement on Thursday which read, "We have followed the money and built a record of evidence revealing how Joe Biden knew, was involved, and benefited from his family’s influence peddling schemes."

The statement pledged that there would be "more to come today," a pledge which was fulfilled by another post from Comer.

In it, the Kentucky Republican said he was "not done" with handing out subpoenas and identified four other individuals who are being called to testify.

They include Eric Schwerin and Mervyn Yan, both of whom are characterized as being "Hunter Biden's business associates." Also listed is New York City art dealer and high-dollar Democratic donor Elizabeth Naftali.

Woman who purchased Hunter Biden's art received presidential appointment

Fox News reported in July that Naftali gave some $200,000 to President Biden's 2020 campaign and has donated an additional $13,000 towards his 2024.

Naftali also purchased some of Hunter Biden's artwork and was appointed by his father to the Commission for the Preservation of America’s Heritage Abroad.

Kendra Arnold serves as the executive director of the Foundation for Accountability and Civic Trust, and he told Fox News that Naftali gives the appearance of a conflict of interest.
