Huma Abedin engaged to George Soros' son
Former first lady Hillary Clinton was known for a number of things, including her connection to Nazi sympathizer George Soros.
Another one of her well-known connections was aid Huma Abedine, whose life became part of public record due to a few infamous connections.
The former top Clinton aide is now an MSNBC contributor, and announced just days ago that she is set to marry Alex Soros, the son and heir apparent to the billionaire Democrat megadonor's fortune, as Fox News reported.
The Announcement
The liberal couple made the announcement of their engagement on social media, with Soros posting a picture of himself kneeling down and proposing to his girlfriend.
"This happened…we couldn’t be happier, more grateful, or more in love," Soros wrote in an Instagram post.
In a Valentine's Day post on Instagram, Abedin, who is 48 years old and has been a longtime aide to former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, revealed to the public earlier this year that she was getting romantic with Soros, who is 38 years old.
The post showed the two affectionately embracing each other behind a table that was adorned with roses at a restaurant booth in Paris.
The Engagement
Seven years after she divorced her first husband, the disgraced Democratic congressman Anthony Weiner, the progressive power couple has announced their impending engagement to one another.
In 2017, she submitted her petition for divorce; however, the divorce proceedings were not finalized until several years later.
Since she began working as an intern for Hillary Clinton in the White House in 1996, Abedin has been a devout supporter of the former first lady.
Afterward, she worked for her as a top staffer at the State Department, the Clinton Foundation, and Clinton's presidential campaign in 2016. She also worked for Clinton in 2016. She moved in 2022 to MSNBC.
More Limelight
Her then-husband, Weiner, who was a congressman in New York at the time, was caught sexting after posting a lewd photo on his Twitter account, which he initially claimed was hacked. This led to Abedin herself becoming embroiled in a major scandal in 2011.
"The first thing out of my mouth wasn’t ‘How could you do this to me?’ or ‘I thought that you loved me.’
The first thing I said was, ‘You mean you’ve been lying to the whole world for a week??,'" Abedin wrote in her 2021 memoir. "'Anthony, you have people counting on you. You owe them the truth!’ ‘I know,' he said. ‘I have to go back and deal with the consequences.’"
