Hunter Biden sued for alleged non-payment of $50K in legal fees
Former President Joe Biden's controversial son, Hunter Biden, hasn't made headlines for a while, but that changed this week after it was revealed that he owes a large sum of money.
According to the Washington Examiner, the legal firm that represented Hunter Biden during his two federal indictments is claiming that the former president's son owes it some $50,000 in legal fees.
The law firm Winston & Strawn recently filed a lawsuit in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia, alleging that Hunter Biden's owed payments amount to a breach of contract.
According to legal documents, Hunter Biden owes the firm upward of $50,000 as of April 30. The firm noted that some of the fees he owed it have been paid.
What's going on?
The law firm held nothing back in stating what it believes Hunter Biden owes for its representation last year, only for Hunter Biden to ultimately be pardoned by his father.
“Although a portion of those fees have been paid, Mr. Biden presently owes [Winston & Strawn] substantially in excess of $50,000 in fees and interest that are due and payable,” the lawsuit states.
It added, "This action is brought to enforce [Winston and Strawn’s] contract rights against Mr. Biden through judgment for the amount due, and lien on all Mr. Biden’s assets."

The Examiner noted:
The lawsuit contained a copy of the engagement contract agreed upon by the law firm and its client. Biden previously paid his lawyers between March 2023 and October 2024, when his federal cases were still active.
There's an initial court hearing regarding the lawsuit against Hunter Biden scheduled for Sept. 19.
Social media reacts
There was no shortage of commentary on the situation across social media.
"That boy better call the big guy and get some cash," one X user wrote.
Another X user wrote, "I'm curious, if someone doesn't pay their legal bills and you sue them, would it be crazy to expect them to pay the new legal bills if you win?"
Many other users suggested that Hunter Biden revive his artistic career and sell some more abstract paintings to cover the fees.
