Hunter Biden's attorney recently had a public meltdown after the California judge overseeing Biden's tax case refused to dismiss the charges.

According to Fox News, the attorney - Abbe Lowell - has since released a statement publicly attacking the judge for the decision.

Lowell also went after the prosecution for even having brought the case.

Before we get to Lowell's statement, though, we are going to get you up to speed on this case.

Background

Hunter Biden, the son of President Joe Biden, is currently facing numerous criminal charges. These particular charges have been filed in Los Angeles, California.

There, Special Counsel David Weiss has brought criminal tax charges against Hunter Biden, alleging that the president's son failed to pay $1.4 million in taxes over four years, from January 2017 to October 2020.  Weiss further alleges that Biden, during those years, submitted false tax reports.

The indictment, in part, alleges that Hunter Biden "engaged in a four-year scheme to not pay at least $1.4 million in self-assessed federal taxes he owed for tax years 2016 through 2019, from in or about January 2017 through in or about October 15, 2020, and to evade the assessment of taxes for tax year 2018 when he filed false returns in or about February 2020."

Hunter Biden has pled "not guilty" to the charges, which include three felonies and six misdemeanors. And, recently, he and his attorney attempted to get the case thrown out.

According to NBC News, Lowell put forth several grounds for dismissal, including the argument that "prosecutors selectively targeted Biden." U.S. District Judge Mark Scarsi, however, has rejected each of Lowell's arguments.

"Abnormal way"

After the judge rejected Lowell's argument, the attorney put out a statement slamming the decision, while, at the same time, attacking the prosecution.

"We strongly disagree with the Court’s decision and will continue to vigorously pursue Mr. Biden’s challenges to the abnormal way the Special Counsel handled this investigation and charged this case," Lowell said.

Nonetheless, the case will now proceed. Currently, jury selection is scheduled to take place on June 20, but this could still change.

In the meantime, Hunter Biden is facing other charges in Delaware. These are gun charges that stem from the fact that he lied on the form that he filled out to get the gun. Biden has pled "not guilty" to these charges.

Lowell and Biden are also currently attempting to get these gun charges dismissed. The judge in this case has yet to rule on the dismissal motion.
