ICE apprehends college student who took part in disruptive campus protests

Acting as if they're not fully aware of President Donald Trump's initiative to arrest and deport criminal illegal aliens, the left continues to freak out at every turn when that happens.

A related situation has cropped up that also has the left losing their minds. According to the Daily Mail, it's regarding the ICE arrest of Rumeysa Ozturk, 30, who is from Turkey and currently studying at Tufts University in Massachusetts.

While the reason for her arrest is still unclear, it was reported this week that Secretary of State Marco Rubio hinted that her arrest, which was described as "dramatic" and carried out by ICE agents, was related to disruptive campus protests.

Rubio said she could possibly be one of the "social activists that tear up our university campuses."

What's going on?

Details regarding her arrest are not yet clear, but the Daily Mail provided some context:

This is in reference to the swarm of college protests that erupted across the country after Hamas' terror attack on Israel on October 7, 2023 - triggering an outpouring of pro-Palestine support from students.

US District Court Judge Indira Talwani ordered Ozturk to remain in the state and that the government give 48 hours' notice before moving her.

Earlier this week, a Department of Homeland Security (DHS) official confirmed that Ozturk had been transferred to the "Central Louisiana ICE Processing Center in Basile, Louisiana."

The outlet said it was "unclear" if she had already been transferred to the facility at the time of the judge's order.

The Daily Mail added:

Rubio defended Ozturk's detention on Thursday, claiming the administration will not give visas to students who participate in violent protests - perhaps hinting at Ozturk's involvement.

President Trump's secretary of state held nothing back in providing a reason for why disruptive foreign students will not receive visas.

"If you apply for a visa to enter the United States and be a student, and you tell us that the reason you are coming to the United States is not just because you want to write op-eds but because you want to participate in movements that are involved in doing things like vandalizing universities, harassing students, taking over buildings, creating a ruckus, we are not going to give you a visa," Sec. Rubo said.

He also made it clear that visas will be issued for those who want to come here and study, not for those who want to take part in American social activism.

The crackdown continues

The Trump administration has made it exceedingly clear that it will not tolerate disruptive, violent protests on American college campuses, especially from pro-Palestine activists.

President Trump signed an order on January 29 that affirmed his administration's crackdown on anti-semitism on college campuses.

So far, the strategy seems to be working great, and will undoubtedly serve as a deterrent for others with the same ideas.
