ICE reveals arrest of illegal Mexican migrant 'predator' previously convicted of secretly recording people in bathrooms
Amid the flurry of activity by President Donald Trump's new administration has been a focused effort on tracking down, arresting, and deporting illegal aliens, particularly those with prior criminal records.
One recent example of such was the arrest in Texas of a "predator" Mexican national who'd previously been convicted in 2021 for secretly recording other people in public restrooms, according to Houston Fox affiliate KRIV.
That criminal illegal alien from Mexico, Daniel Alejandro Tristan-Guerra, 28, is now in custody in a Texas county jail while awaiting deportation.
A convicted "predator" illegal alien is now in custody
On Friday, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement issued a press release to announce the arrest of Tristan-Guerra in the small Texas town of Hallettsville, who will now be held in custody at the Victoria County Jail until he is deported.
He was arrested days earlier on Feb. 11 by federal agents from ICE and Homeland Security Investigations and had been previously convicted in August 2021 of two counts of invasive visual recording in a bathroom.
Interestingly enough, the press release noted that both HSI-Houston and the Victoria County Sheriff's Office had participated in the initial investigation of the criminal migrant that led to his conviction more than three years ago -- though he was not detained or deported following that prior conviction.
In a statement about the arrest, ICE HSI-Houston Special Agent in Charge Chad Plantz said, "The residents in Southeast Texas can rest easier today knowing this predator has been removed from the community."
"Working alongside our partners in Lavaca County, ICE HSI special agents were able to safely apprehend him when his guard was down and minimize any threat to the public," he added.
Other recent arrests in the Houston area
Fox News reported that in addition to the arrest of Tristan-Guerra, ICE and other federal agents have been busy making other arrests in the Houston area, including multiple suspected members of the Venezuelan Tren de Aragua gang and one alleged smuggler of illegal migrants.
The three suspected gang members were taken into custody on Feb. 12 as part of an ongoing investigation into an alleged multi-state sex trafficking ring operated by the Venezuelan gang.
The alleged smuggler, identified as Eusebio Cavazos, 33, had previously been arrested by federal agents and pleaded guilty last week to charges related to his illicit transportation of 36 illegal aliens in the back of a semi-truck.
The situation for criminal illegal aliens has changed in South Texas, elsewhere
In a statement to Fox News, Special Agent in Charge Plantz said that "the days of transnational criminal organizations raking in billions in illicit profits each year by trampling on our nation’s sovereignty and flooding our country with millions of unvetted aliens who could present a threat to public safety or national security are over."
"The law enforcement community in Southeast Texas is united in our effort to restore law and order along the southern border by aggressively pursuing and dismantling human smuggling organizations and other criminal organizations who are bold enough to test our collective resolve," he added.
Meanwhile, a quick perusal of ICE's news releases reveals that agents have been busy in cities across the country and are arresting dozens, if not hundreds, of illegal aliens with criminal records daily.
