ICE carrying out mass deportations from New York City

Keeping promises and removing illegal immigrants has been the theme of President Donald Trump's first week in office, and that extends to his former home as well.

Rep. Nicole Malliotakis has issued a warning that mass deportations are imminent in New York City upon the commencement of Trump's extensive, long-promised assault on illegal migrants, as Fox News reported.

The Big Apple is one of the first sanctuary cities that the federal government will target in response to Trump's efforts to deport illegal migrants from the country, according to the Republican representative for Staten Island and Brooklyn, who spoke with local news.

From Officials

“I met with [Immigration and Customs Enforcement Director] Tom Homan a couple weeks ago,” Malliotakis said in an interview right after Trump’s inauguration on Monday.

The representative went on to speak to the timeline and who will be prioritized in the line for deportation:

“Chicago is first, but New York will be right after that. So, I don’t know exactly how many days it will take," the lawmaker said to local news.

“It’s focused on criminals. They are focusing on the cartels, the gang members, the sex traffickers, on the drug traffickers,” she added. “They want these dangerous people in this country removed. And so do my constituents.”

Getting the Ball Rolling

Several law enforcement sources informed reporters that deportation operations were originally scheduled to commence in Chicago as early as Tuesday. However, they were abruptly postponed in order to preserve an element of surprise.

ICE was preparing a "big f—king operation" in sanctuary cities, including the Big Apple, when Trump once again took office.

On Tuesday, Adams stated that the city would collaborate with the federal government in the event of any planned arrests, with the objective of eliminating violent criminals from the city.

However, he emphasized that the Trump administration was accountable for immigration policies: “There’s no restriction for the NYPD to coordinate with the various task forces around criminality.

There’s no restrictions. Nothing has changed there. We’re going to continue to collaborate with, all of our federal partners. When it comes down to illegal behavior,” Adams said a day after attending Trump’s inauguration in Washington.

More From the Mayor

Adams reiterated that he been clear in the past that “those who commit violent crimes in our city have violated their right to be in our city and in our country.”

“We’re going to continue to collaborate with ICE around criminality,” he said, adding that the federal government is “responsible for immigration policies.”

This follows Homan's (Trump's border czar) earlier claim that the Chicago postponement was due to a leak, in which he maintained that the overall crackdown plans remained unchanged.

“We’re not reconsidering any operations, there was a leak in Chicago so we’re looking at that leak and finding out how’s that affect officer safety concerns. Chicago’s not off the table, but we’re reconsidering when and how we do it,” Homan told Fox News on Sunday.

“When those bad guys have a heads-up that we’re hitting you at this time this day, it raises officer safety concerns.”
