Illegal alien trucker who killed family of 3 could barely read English, road signs
There's a growing concern in the trucking industry regarding the influx of foreign drivers who are unfamiliar with the English language, let alone how to read essential street signs. Despite this, they continue to get licensed to drive massive trucks down the interstate.
Some of them are not even here legally but are able to obtain licenses to drive big rigs, like the illegal migrant who killed three in a highway accident this week.
That issue, largely the result of Democratic policies, has now proven deadly and disastrous. According to the Daily Caller, Harjinder Singh, an Indian national who was illegally in the U.S., was the driver.
He was charged with three counts of vehicular homicide after he allegedly made an illegal U-turn in Florida, which resulted in the death of a family, killing three.
What's going on?
Somehow, these people are able to get licensed, as Singh was able to obtain a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) even after doing extremely poorly on English language exams and a basic road sign test.
The Daily Caller reported:
During an English Language Proficiency assessment administered by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), the Indian national only provided two correct answers out of a 12-question verbal test, according to the Department of Transportation (DOT). Additionally, he could only identify one of four highway traffic signs.
Any reasonable person should be asking how it is that these people can obtain licenses to drive massive vehicles while not even being able to read basic road signs due to their lack of knowledge of English.
DOT Secretary Sean Duffy is one who admitted this week that Singh should have never been allowed to obtain a CDL in the first place.
"If states had followed the rules, this driver would never have been behind the wheel and three precious lives would still be with us," Duffy said in a public statement this week.
He added, "This crash was a preventable tragedy directly caused by reckless decisions and compounded by despicable failures."
"Lawless frontier"
Duffy continued with his criticisms.
“Non-enforcement and radical immigration policies have turned the trucking industry into a lawless frontier, resulting in unqualified foreign drivers improperly acquiring licenses to operate 40-ton vehicles,” Duffy continued.
"We will use every tool at our disposal to hold these states and bad actors accountable.”
Let's pray he comes through on that, because this is definitely out of control. It needs to stop, now.
