Illegal immigrant caught after being freed from prison for heinous offense

An illegal immigrant has just been freed from prison after being charged with a heinous crime.

The Biden administration is facing criticism over the fact that this individual was still in the country despite the crime and despite having been removed from the U.S. on five previous occasions.

This is according to a new report from Fox News.

The illegal immigrant has been identified as 36-year-old Raymond Rojas Basilio, a Mexican national.

Here are the details:

Just recently, Basilio was arrested by Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials in New York.

The New York Post reports:

Basilio — a Mexican national who has illegally crossed into the US numerous times for decades — had been in prison since his arrest in August 2023, and was released on Sept. 20 after serving 60 days in prison, records show. He was also briefly detained on Nov. 13, but it is unclear why.

It was after he was released from prison that ICE picked him up.

Basilio, according to the outlet, was in prison after being convicted of molesting a child under the age of 11 years old.

What has many outraged is that he only spent 60 days in prison before being released, and New York prison officials decided to release him into the public despite the conviction and despite the fact that he is an illegal alien. The officials chose not to notify ICE.

How is this allowed?

ICE is blaming the situation on New York's so-called sanctuary city policies.

In a statement, New York's ICE division said:

Unfortunately, non-cooperation policies prevented ERO [Enforcement and Removal Operations] from taking immediate custody of this individual upon completion of his local sentence. As this case illustrates, it only takes one successful unlawful entry to do irreparable harm to a member of our community.

President-Elect Trump, of course, is looking to change all of this. He is looking to completely reform U.S. immigration policy, after what the country has witnessed from the Biden administration in recent years.

To help carry out his goals, Trump has chosen Tom Homan to be his "border czar." Homan is expected to help Trump carry out a mass deportation of the illegal immigrants currently residing in the United States.

Trump and Homan are expected to start with those illegal immigrants who have a known criminal background. Trump is doing this to prevent the exact sort of situation that happened in this case; namely, the harming of an innocent American by someone who should not have been in the country.
