President-Elect Donald Trump deserves most of the credit for the recent peace deal between Israel and Hamas.

This is according to a new report from the Washington Examiner.

This comes as the Biden administration, including President Joe Biden himself, has tried to claim credit for the peace deal.

If there was any confusion about who deserves the credit, this report should clear things up.

Trump did it

The Times of Israel explains what it is that led to a "breakthrough" in the peace deal negotiations.

Per the outlet:

A “tense” weekend meeting between Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and incoming Mideast envoy Steve Witkoff led to a breakthrough in the hostage negotiations, with the top aide to US President-elect Donald Trump doing more to sway the premier in a single sit-down than outgoing President Joe Biden did all year, two Arab officials told The Times of Israel on Tuesday.

The outlet goes on to explain what went on at the meetings between Netanyahu and Witkoff.

"During the meeting, Witkoff urged Netanyahu to accept key compromises necessary for an agreement, the two Arab officials on Monday told The Times of Israel on condition of anonymity," the outlet reports.

While this was all going on, Trump made public statements, such as this one:

All hell will break out. If those hostages aren’t back, I don’t want to hurt your negotiation. If they’re not back by the time I get into office, all hell will break out in the Middle East.

"EPIC Agreement"

Trump immediately celebrated the deal on Truth Social, writing, "WE HAVE A DEAL FOR THE HOSTAGES IN THE MIDDLE EAST. THEY WILL BE RELEASED SHORTLY. THANK YOU!"

The president-elect went on to write a more detailed statement on the situation.

He wrote:

This EPIC ceasefire agreement could have only happened as a result of our Historic Victory in November, as it signaled to the entire World that my Administration would seek Peace and negotiate deals to ensure the safety of all Americans, and our Allies. I am thrilled American and Israeli hostages will be returning home to be reunited with their families and loved ones.

Trump went on to give credit to his National Security team, including Special Envoy to the Middle East, Steve Witkoff. He said that Witkoff " will continue to work closely with Israel and our Allies to make sure Gaza NEVER again becomes a terrorist safe haven."

"We will continue promoting PEACE THROUGH STRENGTH throughout the region, as we build upon the momentum of this ceasefire to further expand the Historic Abraham Accords. This is only the beginning of great things to come for America, and indeed, the World!" Trump wrote.
