If by chance you're holding your breath in the hopes that the leaker of the U.S. Supreme Court decision that overturned Roe v. Wade will be identified, you might want to stop, because it doesn't look like it's happening.

According to the Washington Examiner, Chief Justice John Roberts ordered a full-scale investigation with the hopes of finding the person or persons responsible for the leak, even having all of the sitting justices interviewed.

Supreme Court Marshal Gail A. Curley headed the investigation and reported that none of the sitting justices have been implicated.

The leak was published last year in May and sparked intense controversy over the idea that Roe would be overturned.

Curley's investigation

The high court's clerks and several others, including the justices, were interviewed and presumably questioned about any knowledge of the leak. Not a single development came of it.

"The Justices actively cooperated in this iterative process, asking questions and answering mine. I followed up on all credible leads, none of which implicated the Justices or their spouses. On this basis, I did not believe that it was necessary to ask the Justices to sign sworn affidavits," Curley reported.

The Examiner added: "After nine months of investigation, the high court released its 20-page report on Thursday with details about its procedures. The report, however, did not detail whether the justices were interviewed as part of the investigation."

The final report of the investigation drew massive backlash, given the resources and talent available at the highest levels to discover the leaker, yet nothing came of it.

It's not unreasonable to believe many would be suspicious of such a conclusion.

The backlash

Social media users were not kind to the court or Chief Justice Roberts for failing to at least finger a suspect.

"US Supreme Court Marshal Gail Curley FAILED America by NOT finding or revealing who leaked draft opinion concerning Dobbs decision on Roe v. Wade. Marshal Gail Curley needs to resign immediately!" one Twitter user wrote.

Another Twitter user wrote, "Who is the leaker of Roe v. Wade Supreme Court Draft? Supreme Court Marshal Gail Curley, attested that over 97 employees were formally questioned and have denied any involvement. Obviously, someone is LYING. All should be punished to maintain the integrity of the Court."

If the high court wants to earn even a little bit of the public's trust back, they're going to need to try much harder than this to find the truth. It's imperative that it ultimately exposes the leaker at some point, or risk losing the confidence of the American public.
