Though he doesn't often mention it, President Donald Trump enjoys listening to music just about as much as anybody else, and he certainly has his preferences when it comes to particular genres.

On Friday, Trump hosted a White House visit from famed Italian singer Andrea Bocelli, who briefly delighted the president and others with an impromptu performance of one of his hit songs in the Oval Office, according to Fox News.

The president used the opportune moment to publicly announce that the legendary tenor would be performing an actual concert at the White House in early December.

Bocelli's impromptu performance

On Friday, as President Trump waited for the arrival of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, he passed the time by meeting with Bocelli and his family in the Oval Office.

In a video posted to X by White House Special Assistant Margo Martin, Trump and the Bocellis were seen seated around the Resolute Desk while one of the singer's songs was heard playing loudly on the speakers both inside and outside of the president's residence.

About 20 minutes later, Martin posted a second video to X, in which Bocelli was seen and heard briefly singing along to his hit, "Time to Say Goodbye."

It was clear that everyone involved was having a great time, as both Trump and Bocelli were grinning ear-to-ear, and the singer actually struggled to hold his tune because he kept laughing amid the unscheduled performance.

Singer will perform for real at the White House in December

According to Deadline, President Trump informed reporters after Bocelli's visit that the award-winning Italian singer would deliver a scheduled performance at the White House on December 5.

Notably, Bocelli is already scheduled to perform a concert at Washington D.C.'s Capitol One Arena a little more than a week later, on December 14.

The president's hosting of the Italian singer at the White House will also come just a couple of days before Trump plays host for the annual Kennedy Center Honors event on December 7.

That event aims to honor several "American Icons" in the performing arts, including country music artist George Strait, Broadway singer Michael Crawford, Hollywood actor Sylvester Stallone, disco queen Gloria Gaynor, and the rock band KISS.

Legendary singer sharply criticized for Trump friendship

Of course, haters will always hate, and not everybody was pleased by Bocelli's surprise partial performance at the White House, as Syracuse.com reported that some of the singer's anti-Trump fans took to social media to express their great displeasure about his friendly visit with the Republican president.

Notably, Bocelli had been slated to perform at Trump's 2017 Inauguration, but backed out at the last moment, reportedly at the suggestion of the incoming president, amid furious backlash and threats of a boycott from Trump-haters online.
