Former first daughter Ivanka Trump has largely stepped back from the public spotlight and political arena since her father, former President Donald Trump, left office in 2021, ostensibly to focus her attention on her family.

It was recently revealed By Ivanka herself that her absence includes taking care of her elderly grandmother, as they have been living together in South Florida for the "last couple years," according to the SheKnows website.

That would be her maternal grandmother, Marie "Babi" Zelníčková, the mother of the late Ivana Trump, the former president's first wife and with whom he had his three eldest children -- Ivanka, Don Jr., and Eric.

Celebrating "Babi" and cherishing the "richness of life"

The revelation from Ivanka Trump about her grandmother came in an Instagram post earlier this month that shared a handful of photos from a family celebration for Babi's 97th birthday.

"Last week we celebrated my Grandma Babi's 97th birthday," the former first daughter wrote. "We’re so lucky to have Babi living with us in Miami these last couple years -- I’m thankful for every lesson, every story, and every game night where she still destroys us all at Jenga!"

She added, "It's the simple moments together that define the richness of life. I cherish every second!"

The photos included in the post showed Babi in a wheelchair while being surrounded and loved by Ivanka, her husband Jared Kushner, and their three young children -- Arabella Rose, Joseph Frederick, and Theodore James.

Ivanka, Ivana, and Marie

Based on Ivanka Trump's assertion that her grandmother has been living with her for the "last couple years," it would appear that the former first daughter began caring for Babi even before her mother Ivana passed away unexpectedly last year.

According to ABC News, Ivana Trump, 73, died in July 2022 at her New York City home after she presumably fell down a flight of stairs in what was ruled an accident and, according to the medical examiner, suffered fatal blunt impact injuries during the fall.

Born and raised as Ivana Marie Zelníčková in the former communist state of Czechoslovakia -- now separated as the Czech Republic and Republic of Slovakia -- she moved to America in the 1970s and married Donald Trump in 1977, presumably also bringing her mother over to the U.S. at some point.

She ultimately divorced Trump in 1992 upon learning of his extramarital affair with Marla Maples, who would become Trump's second wife, but later forgave that indiscretion and was on good terms with her ex-husband and undoubtedly loved by their three children.

Family--the most important thing for her

Ivanka Trump may have stepped back from the limelight of politics and has reportedly even distanced herself somewhat from her father, at least with regard to his presidential campaign and mounting legal woes, but she still professes abundant love and appreciation for him, according to SheKnows.

She has also made it quite clear that family is the most important thing for her, as most recently evidenced by her taking in and caring for her elderly grandmother.
