Former first daughter Ivanka Trump made a surprise announcement on Monday that her family had just grown with the addition of a new member.

That new addition to the Trump family was not a new baby following a secret pregnancy, but rather was the adoption of a new dog from a rescue shelter, according to the Miami Herald.

Ivanka, her husband Jared Kushner, and their three children recently welcomed to their home a new big pup to join the small dog and hamster that they already cared for as beloved family pets and furry companions.

In an Instagram post on Monday, Ivanka Trump wrote, "A couple of weeks ago we brought Simba, our big-hearted and goofy German Shepherd-Lab mix, home from Big Dog Ranch Rescue."

"This little warrior puppy was found abandoned and emaciated alongside a highway in Alabama. Simba joins Winter and Chester, another furry friend who recently joined the family," she added. "Welcome to the crew, Simba!"

The post included several photos of the family with the newly rescued Simba as well as Winter, a fluffy white Chihuahua they've had since 2019, and Chester, a small brown hamster.

Dog rescue organization doing big things

As noted in Ivanka Trump's post, Simba was adopted from the Big Dog Ranch Rescue, located just north of the Miami metro area, which bills itself as "the largest cage-free, no-kill dog rescue" in the U.S.

The organization, which recently expanded to include a 100+ acre facility in Alabama in addition to its 33+ acre facility in the Miami area, claims to have saved the lives of more than 50,000 dogs since it first started in 2008 and to have "redefined" the standards of dog rescue shelters.,

On top of the normal dog rescue and adoption services, the organization also features a special program that pairs rescued dogs with military veterans and provides all necessary training and equipment cost-free.

Ivanka caring for elderly grandmother

The news about the adoption of a new rescue pup by Ivanka Trump and her family comes about a month and a half after the early October revelation that the former first daughter was also providing care to her maternal grandmother who had been residing with them in South Florida for the past couple of years, according to People magazine.

In an Instagram post that celebrated the 97th birthday of Marie Zelníčková, affectionately known as "Babi," Ivanka wrote, "We’re so lucky to have Babi living with us in Miami these last couple years -- I’m thankful for every lesson, every story, and every game night where she still destroys us all at Jenga!"

She added, "It's the simple moments together that define the richness of life. I cherish every second!"

Hopefully, Ivanka and her family will similarly "cherish" the life-enriching moments of loving and caring for a rescued dog that has been provided a second chance at life.
