After playing prominent roles in former President Donald Trump's first presidential campaign and subsequent administration, his eldest daughter Ivanka Trump has largely kept a low profile and been uninvolved in the political arena since her father left office in early 2021.

It has now been revealed by Ivanka herself that in addition to focusing her attention on her immediate family over the past couple of years, she has also been quietly caring for her elderly grandmother, according to the SheKnows website.

Caring for her elderly grandmother

On Wednesday, Ivanka Trump posted a series of photos to her Instagram account and wrote, "Last week we celebrated my Grandma Babi's 97th birthday."

"We’re so lucky to have Babi living with us in Miami these last couple years," the former first daughter continued. "I’m thankful for every lesson, every story, and every game night where she still destroys us all at Jenga!"

She added, "It's the simple moments together that define the richness of life. I cherish every second!"

The post included four photos from the birthday celebration that featured Ivanka along with her husband, Jared Kushner, and their three children -- Arabella, Joseph, and Theodore -- and her wheelchair-bound grandmother, Marie Zelníčková, who was the mother of former President Trump's first wife, Ivana, who passed away last year.

No longer involved in politics

It would appear that Ivanka Trump is making good on her prior vow to spend more time with and focus more attention on her family, including not just her husband and children but also her grandmother.

It was in November last year, following former President Trump's announcement of the launch of his 2024 re-election campaign, which Ivanka did not attend, that she would be extricating herself from politics in order to be with her family in South Florida.

In a statement to Fox News, she said, "I love my father very much. This time around, I am choosing to prioritize my young children and the private life we are creating as a family. I do not plan to be involved in politics."

"While I will always love and support my father, going forward I will do so outside the political arena," Ivanka continued. "I am grateful to have had the honor of serving the American people and will always be proud of many of our administration’s accomplishments."

She further stated that she's always been "extremely close" to her father and declared, "That hasn’t changed and will never change. I’ve had many roles over the years but that of daughter is one of the most elemental and consequential."

"I am loving this time with my kids, loving life in Miami, and the freedom and privacy with having returned to the private sector. This has been one of the greatest times of my life," Ivanka added.

Keeping distance from her father's legal battles

In addition to not being involved in politics anymore, SheKnows noted that Ivanka Trump has also been quiet in terms of the mounting legal woes her father now faces, save for an initial statement following the first criminal indictment in March from a Democratic prosecutor in New York.

She said at that time, "I love my father, and I love my country. Today, I am pained for both. I appreciate the voices across the political spectrum expressing support and concern."
