Ivanka Trump tells podcaster she relies on her religious faith in dealing with critics
President-elect Donald Trump's victory earlier this month has brought renewed attention to his family, including his eldest daughter Ivanka Trump.
Although some of the coverage has been negative, Ivanka recently revealed how she had decided to deal with critics.
Ivanka points to moral principles within Judaism
According to the Daily Mail, Ivanka told podcast host Lex Fridman that she takes guidance from her religious beliefs when handling controversy.
"There is a concept in Judaism called Lashon Harah, which is, I think quite literally translated to evil speech," she said in the interview.
"The idea that speaking poorly of another is almost the moral equivalent to murder because you can't repair it. You can apologize but you can't repair it," Ivanka explained.
"I think about that a lot. I talk about this concept with my kids a lot. I'm not willing to pay the price of that fleeting and momentary satisfaction of sort of swinging back because I think it would be too expensive for my soul. That's how I made peace with it because that feels more true for me," she added.
Report: Ivanka has withdrawn from politics to focus on raising her children
Mrs. Trump may find herself with fewer attacks than she did four years ago, as the Daily Mail reported earlier this month that she will not be returning to Washington.
The newspaper cited an unnamed source who indicated that the president-elect's eldest daughter has decided to forgo being a White House adviser and will instead focus on her children.

The source further explained that Ivanka was especially troubled after being confronted with a subpoena following the January 6 riot on Capitol Hill.
"I do not plan to be involved in politics"
"She felt like she was being asked to reveal something she did not know anything about and she never wants to be in [that] position again," the source said.
Business Insider reported that Ivanka issued a similar statement when her father kick-started his third presidential campaign two years ago.
"I love my father very much," she said before adding, "This time around, I am choosing to prioritize my children and the private life we are creating as a family. I do not plan to be involved in politics."
