Although Ivanka Trump served as a high-profile adviser in her father's first administration, she has largely avoided politics in recent years.

Yet despite staying away from Washington, the president's daughter recently has taken a job which is sure to leave him smiling.

Mrs. Trump helping to organize White House UFC event

According to the Daily Mail, UFC president and CEO Dana White revealed this week that Mrs. Trump is helping to plan a mixed martial arts event at the White House which has been scheduled for next summer.

"I feel really good about how that’s progressing," White was quoted as telling Front Office Sports. "We’re actually heading (to Washington) at the end of August for meetings about it. Ivanka is also involved in this."

"We’ll be making a presentation and then will look to hear back about what they like about it and don’t like," the professional fighting mogul added.

The Daily Mail noted how President Donald Trump is a longtime UFC fan and frequently makes appearances at the company's events.

"There is a darkness to that world"

Mrs. Trump's work on the event may come as a surprise to some given how she has openly spoken of being turned off by Washington's hostile environment.

As the New York Post reported in January, she made her feelings on the subject clear during an appearance on the Skinny Confidential's "Him & Her Show" podcast.

"I love policy and impact. I hate politics. And unfortunately, the two are not separable," Mrs. Trump explained before adding that politics is a "very dark, negative business."

The former White House adviser lamented how "[t]here is a darkness to that world that I don’t really want to welcome into mine."

Mrs. Trump prefers to focus on her children

"The main reason I am not going back to serve now is I know the cost, and it’s a price that I’m not willing to make my kids bear," explained before adding, "My primary goals were just to like, be the best freaking mom."

"It’s hard. I mean, I did the best I could — and I think I was there for all the really critical moments — but you don’t want to miss the small ones either," Ivanka stressed.

"Every time I had to miss something, I'm like, 'I will never let this happen again in the minute I leave the White House,'" Mrs. Trump recalled.
