J.D. Vance suspended from BlueSky after 'automated' process
Was it something he said?
Within minutes of joining BlueSky, Vice President J.D. Vance was suspended from the liberal-friendly social media platform.
Vance suspended
The suspension was lifted within minutes, to the dismay of liberal users.
On X, Vance is known for his thoughtful, pugilistic posts responding to critics of President Trump and his policies.
Vance’s first post on BlueSky was controversial as ever. He commented on this week’s Supreme Court ruling on transgenderism, which held that states could ban so-called gender-affirming care for minors.
“Hello Bluesky, I’ve been told this app has become the place to go for common sense political discussion and analysis,” Vance wrote. “So I’m thrilled to be here to engage with all of you.”
The post included a screencap of the Supreme Court ruling, with Vance quoting approvingly from Justice Clarence Thomas.
“To that end, I found Justice [Clarence] Thomas’s concurrence on medical care for transgender youth quite illuminating,” Vance wrote.
“He argues that many of our so-called ‘experts’ have used bad arguments and substandard science to push experimental therapies on our youth,” the vice president continued. “I might add that many of those scientists are receiving substantial resources from big pharma to push these medicines on kids.”
Account was flagged
Vance’s post seemed calculated to inflame the site’s liberal user base - and indeed, many of its users began reporting him for spreading “misinformation” about the medical validity of transgender surgeries.
“Don’t just block. Report the account and the posts,” one user wrote.
While Vance was suspended shortly after his post, the site blamed an automated system for flagging his account.
“Vice President Vance’s account was briefly flagged by our automated systems that try to detect impersonation attempts which have targeted public figures like him in the past. The account was quickly restored and verified so people can easily confirm its authenticity,” a spokesperson for the company said. “We welcome the Vice President to join the conversation on Bluesky.”
BlueSky was launched after Elon Musk purchased X, formerly known as Twitter. A liberal exodus from X to BlueSky picked up after President Trump's election win in November.
The hostile response to Vance's innocuous post is just further proof that BlueSky is an echo chamber of liberals with Trump derangement syndrome.
The liberals on BlueSky do not want to be challenged. But Vance is back, and we can be sure he won't go running back to X for comfort.
