J.D. Vance warns that illegal migration poses a threat to democracy
Left-wing figures have frequently maintained that former President Donald Trump and his running mate represent a threat to democracy.
However, Ohio Republican Sen. J.D. Vance recently countered by alleging that America's democratic order could actually be ended by illegal immigration.
Vance: Amnesty would make "the entire country" like California
According to Breitbart, Vance made that declaration earlier in the week during an interview with podcast host Joe Rogan. In a surprising move, he began by criticizing President Ronald Reagan.

"I'm a Reagan guy, right?" Vance told Rogan at one point. "I'm a conservative Republican. But [President Ronald] Reagan screwed up a lot."
"People don't talk nearly enough about the amnesty thing … Because of what Ronald Reagan did in the 1986 amnesty, California is now effectively a permanently blue state," he continued before adding that "the entire country" would suffer a similar fate if amnesty is enacted.
States with higher numbers of illegal immigrants have gained House seats
However, the Republican vice presidential candidate was quick to point out how migrants impact the political system even when they lack citizenship.
"For example, the state of Ohio lost a congressional seat in the last census [in 2020 so] states that have high illegal immigrant populations picked up congressional seats," Vance noted
"So you’re actually taking away congressional representation from American citizens and giving it to illegal aliens. Even if you don’t give them the right to vote, you’re still destroying the voting power [of citizens]," he explained.
In addition to the political ramifications, Vance also cited the other forms of damage that mass illegal migration can inflict.
Vance highlights strain that illegal migrants put on local services
"You see this in some communities — because they're small towns, and because rapid migrant influxes can happen very quickly — here the town population has been doubled," Vance stressed.
"You don't even have to assume people are criminals …[but] what does it do to the local public school when all of a sudden 1,000 [migrants] show up that don’t even speak English, right?" he added.
Vance also highlighted the way in which "American citizens have to wait in line for seven hours to get to see a doctor because we've overwhelmed the local hospital system."
"What does it do to housing prices?" Vance asked. "We've seen this in a number of communities, including those that I represent in Ohio."
