Special Counsel Jack Smith - the man whom the Biden administration has chosen to target President Joe Biden's top political rival - is asking a judge to impose another gag order on former President Donald Trump. 

This, according to Fox News, is taking place in the classified documents case that Smith has brought against Trump.

Smith alleges that Trump illegally mishandled classified materials when he left the White House and that the former president then obstructed efforts by the government to get those materials back.

Trump has denied any wrongdoing, and he's insisted that Smith is running election interference for Biden.

Smith's latest gag order request

A big news item that recently came out was the revelation that the Biden administration authorized the use of "deadly force" during the unprecedented raid that the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) carried out on Trump's Mar-a-Lago residence.

Trump, since the publishing of this news, has released several public statements on the matter. In one, he claimed that the FBI was "locked and loaded ready to take me out and put my family in danger." In another, he said that the FBI "was authorized to shoot" him and that the agents were "just itching to do the unthinkable."

Smith has taken exception to this, and now he is trying to get a judge to stop Trump from saying such things.

"These deceptive and inflammatory claims expose the law enforcement professionals who are involved in this case to unjustified and unacceptable risks," Smith claimed.

Accordingly, he asked U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon to stop Trump from making statements that "pose a significant, imminent, and foreseeable danger to law enforcement agents participating in the investigation and prosecution of this case."

Trump responds

Cannon has yet to indicate how she is going to rule with regard to Smith's request.

But, in the meantime, Trump has released a statement on the matter.

"Deranged Jack Smith has asked Judge Aileen Cannon in Florida for a Gag Order on me, so that I cannot talk about all of the Crimes he has committed, including the Illegal, Unconstitutional, and Unwarranted RAID of Mar-a-Lago. I guess they’re hoping they can silence me from telling the TRUTH like the Corrupt and Highly Conflicted Judge in New York City has done," Trump wrote.

The former president, here, is referring to Judge Juan Merchan, who is overseeing the so-called hush-money case. Merchan has imposed a gag order on Trump stopping him from publicly speaking about, among other things, the witnesses in the case.

Trump continued, "Gag Orders have a very strong tendency to BACKFIRE, and if anybody should be GAGGED, it should be Deranged Jack, who was recently caught doing very bad things - and I should be able to talk about that, and everything else having to do with this Hoax - from which Crooked Joe Biden was FULLY EXONERATED!"

The big question now is whether Cannon agrees that Trump ought to be allowed to speak about these things. We should find out soon.
