Vice President Kamala Harris made headlines earlier this week when she chose Minnesota Democratic Gov. Tim Walz to serve as her running mate.

The move has apparently led to infighting, with longtime Democratic strategist James Carville calling for the ouster of a senator from his own party.

Sen. John Fetterman accused of trying to undermine Gov. Josh Shapiro

According to the Daily Caller, Carville's remarks were made on Thursday during an episode of his "Politics War Room" podcast.

Specifically, Carville accused Pennsylvania Democratic Sen. John Fetterman of undermining Josh Shapiro, who serves as the governor of Fetterman's home state.

Shapiro was widely regarded as a likely vice presidential candidate, with Carville suggesting that he would have been a better choice than Walz.

Carville warns that he will "wait 'til after the election to deal with" Fetterman

"The other thing is, is one of the great backstabbers in modern Democratic politics is John Fetterman, but I'm going to wait 'til after the election to deal with him. But he’s somebody that must be dealt with, and must be dealt with in real terms," Carville said.

Co-host Al Hunt voiced agreement with Carville's position, asserting that Fetterman had "sandbagged" the Pennsylvania governor.

"And, of course, the reason he's in the United States Senate is because of Shapiro," the veteran Democratic strategist went on to complain.

"If you look at the Pennsylvania election returns, 2022, and you’ll get the idea of how Josh dragged this guy across the finish line," Carville asserted.

The Daily Caller noted that this is not the first example of conflict between Carville and Fetterman, the senator lashed out in December of last year during an interview with Politico.

Fetterman says that Carville "hasn't been relevant since grunge was a thing"

Fetterman took issue with Carville's warnings that President Joe Biden was a weak candidate, stating, "I'll use this [as] another opportunity to tell James Carville to shut the f--k up."

"My man hasn't been relevant since grunge was a thing," the freshman Democratic lawmaker went on to say of Carville.

"And I don’t know why he believes it’s helpful to say these kinds of things about an incredibly difficult circumstance with an incredibly strong and decent and excellent president. I’ll never understand that," he declared.
