Beloved actor James McCaffrey has died at the age of 65.

James McCaffrey, maybe most known for voicing “Max Payne” in the popular video game, lost his battle with cancer on December 17th.

The actor had been diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a blood cancer.

It is not confirmed when McCaffrey received the diagnosis or how long his battle lasted.

It has been confirmed that McCaffrey passed away at his home in Larchmont, New York.

His Wife, Rochelle Boström, posted a photo of her and McCaffrey on Instagram with a tear-jerking caption.

“A Fairytale of New York indeed - I love you baby! Rest in peace my beloved. Thank you for giving me our daughter, Tiarnan, and sharing my life with you. You will be greatly missed by so many,” Boström wrote.

The pair had been married over twenty years, celebrating their 20th wedding anniversary back in the summer of July 2020.

So sad.

Before James McCaffrey was the voice of “Max Payne,” he landed many other roles over the course of his 35 years acting.

His first big break happened when he landed the role of Captain Arthur O’Breun in New York Undercover, a police television drama that ran for several years in the mid-90s.

He also starred in the television comedy-drama Rescue Me as the ghost of Jimmy Keefe, a firefighter who lost his life in 9/11.

James McCaffrey even acted in multiple episodes of well-known televisions shows like Blue Bloods, Suits, Sex and the City, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Law & Order: Criminal Intent, and Jessica Jones.

If there’s anything we can say about James McCaffrey, it is that he should be proud of the life he led.

Climbing your way into such noteworthy roles, having a successful marriage for over 20 years, and raising a family with the woman he loved, is much more than many are able to say.

McCaffrey made the most of his time on earth, but he is still gone too soon.

Rest in peace.

We’ll never know what other roles he would have landed or just how far he could have gone.

We pray for peace and comfort for friends, family and anyone who loved James McCaffrey.
