Jared Kushner, the husband of Ivanka Trump and son-in-law to former President Donald Trump, said Tuesday at the Axios BFD Conference that he doesn't plan to return to the White House as a presidential adviser if his father-in-law is re-elected.

Kushner said that his family enjoys living in Florida out of the spotlight and that he has commitments to his investment firm Affinity Partners, which he started in 2021 after Trump left office.

"Nothing in my life has gone according to the plans I've set," Kushner acknowledged, but said that if Trump asked him to serve in a new administration, he would say no.

Kushner further explained that Trump's 2016 campaign had been a family affair, but now he is surrounded by professionals.

"Very fortunate"

"I was very fortunate to play a role in the campaign and then join him in the administration," he said.

He added, "I suspect that if he gets into office again, he would have just a level of competence and professionalism, even more so than it was in the last administration."

"I think he has a much better understanding of who was effective and all these different roles and I suspect he'll have a very, very long list of very qualified people to choose from," he concluded.

Sources told Axios that Trump still seems to prioritize loyalty above experience in those who work for him.

They also said that Kushner is on a short list of those Trump would ask to be in his administration if elected.

Ivanka not having it

Ivanka Trump has said that she is not interested in being involved in her father's campaign or administration either.

Trump's eldest daughter said she is bowing out of U.S. politics altogether “to prioritize my young children and the private life we are creating as a family.”

The couple have three children: Arabella, 12; Joseph, 9; and Theodore, 7.

It doesn't sound like she would take kindly to her husband dragging the family back to D.C. to be one of Trump's advisers again.

Both Ivanka and Jared were harshly criticized when they were part of Trump's administration, so it's not a surprise that they don't want to re-enter that life again.
