The conservative movement was taken aback last week when former Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) head Elon Musk lashed out at President Donald Trump.

That move did not go over well with Vice President J.D. Vance, who accused Musk of having made a "huge mistake."

Vice president says "everything would be fine" if "Elon chilled out a little bit"

According to Newsmax, Vance made the remarks during an interview in Nashville on Friday with comedian and social media personality Theo Von.

While Vance described Musk as being "an emotional guy," the vice president did admit that he has himself "flown off the handle way worse than Elon Musk did in the last 24 hours."

"Look, it happens to everybody," Vance stressed before saying he believes that "if Elon chilled out a little bit, everything would be fine."

"I hope that eventually Elon comes back into the fold. Maybe that’s not possible now because he’s gone so nuclear," Vance went on to acknowledge.

Vance: "Donald Trump didn’t do anything wrong with Jeffrey Epstein"

Breitbart noted how Musk put up a pair of X posts in which he attempted to link Trump with deceased financier and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

"Time to drop the really big bomb: (Trump) is in the Epstein files. That is the real reason they have not been made public," Musk wrote. He later followed up with another post that read, "Mark this post for the future. The truth will come out."

However, the website also pointed out that the former DOGE head had taken down both of the posts as of Saturday morning.

For his part, Vance was adamant in dismissing Musk's allegation, stating, "Absolutely not. Donald Trump didn’t do anything wrong with Jeffrey Epstein."

Hedge fund manager Bill Ackman calls for reconciliation between Trump and Musk

Musk's removal of the posts came after hedge fund manager Bill Ackman publicly called for reconciliation between him and president Trump.

"I support (Donald Trump) and (Elon Musk)  and they should make peace for the benefit of our great country. We are much stronger together than apart," Ackman stated in an X post on Thursday.

Musk was apparently open to Ackman's request as he quickly responded with a post of his own, writing, "You're not wrong."
