Vice President J.D. Vance is in favor of re-hiring the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) staff member who recently resigned, and it appears that President Donald Trump agrees.

Vance, according to PBS News, indicated as much on Friday.

And, now, it would appear that DOGE has taken the staff member back.

Here's what happened:

A member of DOGE resigned after the Wall Street Journal released a report uncovering controversial social media posts that the individual had made in the past.

Breitbart News reports:

The Wall Street Journal unearthed several of DOGE staffer Marko Elez’s past social media posts after he had been approved by a federal judge this week to have “access to the payment system at the U.S. Treasury, but the judge restricted his ability to share data from the system,” per NBC News.

The outlet goes on to report that, his former social media account contained messages that could be interpreted as being racist.

The outlet reports:

In one post, the account linked to Elez denounced interracial marriage while another said to “normalize Indian hate.” “You could not pay me to marry outside of my ethnicity,” the account posted in September. In that same month, the account responded to a post about the number Indians working in Silicon Valley.  ″‘Normalize Indian hate,’” the post on the account said . . .

With all of this going public, Elez decided to resign.

No so fast

Not everybody was in agreement with the resignation, and some immediately began calling for Elez to be re-hired. So, Elon Musk, the leader of DOGE, asked the public whether he should rehire Elez.

This is when Vance chimed in. The vice president wrote:

Here’s my view: I obviously disagree with some of Elez’s posts, but I don’t think stupid social media activity should ruin a kid’s life. We shouldn’t reward journalists who try to destroy people. Ever. So I say bring him back. If he’s a bad dude or a terrible member of the team, fire him for that.

Trump, for his part, deferred to Vance's judgment on this one.

Now, it would appear that Elez is returning to DOGE.

Musk wrote, "He will be brought back. To err is human, to forgive divine."
