WH press sec Jean-Pierre called out for apparent lie about poll results approving Biden's controversial pardon of Hunter

Though it certainly has stiff competition, President Joe Biden's White House has been among the most blatantly dishonest in the nation's history, as they will routinely lie to the American people even as the truth is readily available for all to see.

A recent example occurred last week when White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre falsely asserted that a poll showed nearly two-thirds of Americans supported the president's controversial blanket pardon for his convicted felon son Hunter Biden, Fox News reported.

In her possible defense, though, given that she isn't particularly bright, Jean-Pierre may not have deliberately lied but perhaps instead simply misread the poll results, as the survey she referenced showed that nearly two-thirds disapproved of the pardon for Hunter and only around one-third approved it.

Jean-Pierre's false poll results

On Dec. 1, after roughly a year of repeatedly swearing that no pardon would be issued for his son, President Biden nonetheless issued a broadly sweeping pardon that absolved Hunter of not just his convictions earlier this year on federal gun and tax crimes but also all known and unknown federal offenses that his son "has committed or may have committed or taken part in during the period from January 1, 2014, through December 1, 2024."

A few days later, during a White House press briefing, Jean-Pierre was grilled about the prior lies repeatedly told by herself and President Biden about not pardoning Hunter when she seemingly lied again by touting untrue alleged poll results that purportedly favored Biden's pardon for his son.

"I -- I think the American people understand, and I think they understand how difficult this decision would be," Jean-Pierre said. "And I would actually add -- and I think it’s important to note here, as you’re asking me these questions -- important questions to ask -- that there was a poll -- a U.S. Gov [YouGov] poll that came out, that some of you all reported on it."

"And it said 64 percent of the American people agree with the pardon -- 64 percent of the American people," she added. "So, we get a sense of where the American people are on this. Obviously, it’s one poll, but it gives you a little bit of insight. Sixty-four percent is nothing to sneeze at."

What did the poll really say?

Except, as Fox News and many others pointed out, the poll numbers cited by Jean-Pierre from YouGov -- there is no major polling outfit known as U.S. Gov -- were backward, in that only 34% of Americans either "strongly" or "somewhat" approved of the Hunter Biden pardon, with a combined 50% saying they disapproved on the pardon.

Giving the press secretary a modest benefit of the doubt, where she may have confused herself on the numbers is that YouGov did indeed find that 64% of Democrat respondents approved of the Hunter pardon, while a mere combined 25% of independents and just 13% of Republicans similarly approved of it.

On the other hand, only 21% of Democrats disapproved of Biden pardoning his son after repeatedly insisting he would not do so, while 53% of independents and 79% of Republicans likewise disapproved of the broad extension of clemency for all possible criminal acts that may have occurred over the past 11 years.

Reactions to Jean-Pierre's dishonesty

In response to Jean-Pierre's false assertion about the YouGov poll results, GOP communicator Matt Whitlock posted a screenshot of the poll results and wrote, "My gosh she literally got a poll backwards from the White House podium. She genuinely might be the worst Press Secretary in history."

Similarly, Red State writer Bonchie shared the video clip of Jean-Pierre's incorrect remarks and said, "This is a psychotic level of lying. The kind of thing someone used to get shamed from polite society over. Of course, she'll be on MSNBC by next year."

Also weighing in on the topic were the conservative podcasters, Chicks On The Right, who wrote, "Couldn’t you try to suck a little less during these last few weeks, @PressSec? Or just lie a little less? My GOD you’re awful. Just absolutely dreadful."
