Jill Biden caught in fashion faux pas at WH Easter Egg Roll event, re-wearing same designer outfit from prior events

In the world of high fashion and the social elite, it has long been considered a serious faux pas to wear the same designer outfit to more than one major public event.

Yet, that is exactly what would-be socialite first lady Jill Biden was caught doing on Monday when she appeared at the White House Easter Egg Roll event wearing the same outfit that she has been spotted wearing elsewhere at least twice before, according to Women's Wear Daily.

We've seen this before

On Monday, Jill Biden showed up for the annual Easter Egg Roll event on the White House lawn adorned in a shock pink overcoat atop a matching pink dress.

"The coat featured strong, rounded shoulders as well as an asymmetric design with buttons. It also included a small tie at the hip. Her matching dress hit below the knee, but was shorter than the coat," the outlet described.

Biden previously wore that same pink dress and overcoat ensemble in May 2023 when she met with Akshata Murty, the wife of British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, while in the U.K. to celebrate the coronation of King Charles III.

Just five months earlier, in December 2022, the first lady wore that same outfit when she accompanied French first lady Brigitte Macron on a tour of a Washington D.C. museum while President Joe Biden host French President Emmanuel Macron for an official state visit.

Suede boots on a rainy day?

Per WWD, the only apparent difference that set apart those three occasions was Biden's footwear, as she wore a pair of pink pumps during the Macron visit, white patterned Dior slingback heels during the visit to the U.K., and brown suede boots during the Easter event.

According to Footwear News, the "knee-high" suede boots the first lady wore were described as having a "rich caramel colorway" and were "adorned with a rounded-toe silhouette, estimated 2-inch block heel, and exposed stitching detail. Additionally, the first lady’s knee-high boots were crafted from a soft slouchy suede textile. She paired the look with a hot pink overcoat."

As it turned out, Biden's suede boots may have been her boldest fashion choice of the day, given that the annual Easter Egg Roll on the White House lawn was plagued with "intermittent rain" throughout the day that created "soggy" conditions, according to NPR.

Anyone who has worn suede footwear before can attest to the fact that, in general, suede material and wet conditions don't work out particularly well.

Not the first time

WWD observed that this is not the first time that first lady Biden has been caught re-wearing the same outfit, and linked to a separate report it posted last year of another example of the fashion faux pas.

That example also included an event in the U.K. during King Charles III's coronation, known as the "Big Lunch" with other dignitaries, during which she wore a "white lambskin cutout dress by Gabriela Hearst" -- the same dress she wore in September 2022 during a meeting in New York City with the fashionable Queen Letizia of Spain.

For what it is worth, the outlet noted that a black version of that same dress is available on Heart's website for $15,900, so it would seem that Biden is at least trying to get her money's worth from that particular outfit.

It is unclear how much the first lady's thrice-worn pink outfit retails for, but it appears that she is also attempting to maximize the value of that particular purchase by wearing it multiple times.
