Dr. Jill Biden's tenure as first lady came to an end earlier this year when she and her husband departed from the White House.

However, rumors that Mrs. Biden would stick around Washington were confirmed last week when joined a nonprofit organization.

Mrs. Biden to chair "Women's Health Network" initiative

According to the Daily Caller, the center-left Milken Institute announced that Mrs. Biden will serve as chair of its newly launched "Women's Health Network" initiative.

A statement released by the Milken Institute explained that the Women's Health Network will function as "a global collaborative to collate, elevate, and advance existing and new efforts across the women’s health ecosystem."

The statement hailed Mrs. Biden as a "renowned champion for women’s health" who "will play an important role in galvanizing participation, collaboration, and shared action in the Women’s Health Network to improve women’s health and wellbeing."

It also touted her "leadership on the White House Initiative on Women’s Health Research," something the statement described as "a first-of-its-kind effort that fundamentally changed how our nation approaches and funds research on women’s health."

Milken Institute official "so pleased" to welcome former first lady

Esther Krofah serves as executive vice president of the Milken Institute Health, and she welcomed the former first lady's new role.

"The Milken Institute is grateful for Dr. Biden's leadership during her tenure in the White House and her steadfast commitment to championing investment in women’s health," Krofah declared.

Krofah went on to assert that the Milken Institute is "so pleased she will join us as we launch and grow the Women’s Health Network."

Mrs. Biden says she is "honored to join the Milken Institute"

For her part, the former first lady said she is "honored to join the Milken Institute as we unite leaders around a shared mission: for women everywhere to benefit from the lifesaving, world-changing research we know is possible."

Mrs. Biden also fondly recalled the White House Initiative on Women’s Health Research, claiming that it "made important investments in research and development."

The Milken Institute describes itself as "a nonprofit, nonpartisan think tank focused on accelerating measurable progress on the path to a meaningful life."
