John Capodice, known for roles in 'Seinfeld' and 'General Hospital,' dead at 83

A beloved actor who had roles in the legendary TV sitcom "Seinfeld," and who appeared in movies such as "Ace Ventura" has died.

According to Fox News, John Capodice, probably best known for his role in "General Hospital," died on Dec. 30, according to an obituary. He was 83.

The obituary was published by Pizzi Funeral Home in Northvale, New Jersey, according to the report.

As of this writing, there has not been a cause of death revealed.

"Devoted husband and father"

The obituary praised Copadice for his role as a father, husband, and grandfather.

"John was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and will be missed by all who had the pleasure to meet him," the obituary read.

Copadice's career spanned decades, stretching from 1978 to 2024, and he racked up roles in more than 150 TV and film projects, according to his bio.

Fox News noted:

Beginning in the 1970s, Capodice began his acting career and had recurring roles in shows such as "Ryan’s Hope," "Diagnosis Murder," "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation," "Law & Order," "Living Single," "Melrose Place," "Ellen," "Mad About You," "Boy Meets World" and "Will & Grace," according to iMDB.

Copadice's role in Seinfeld might have been small, but is fondly remembered by fans. He appeared in the famous "Revenge" episode where he played the owner of a laundromat that Kramer attempted to sabotage. In the episode, Copadice's character was accused of stealing $1,500 from a laundry bag.

Fox News added:

Capodice’s film credits include "Wall Street," "Family Business," "The Doors," "Speed" and "Independence Day." In "Ace Ventura: Pet Detective," the actor played a police officer who poked fun at Jim Carrey’s character.

Remembered on social media

Copadice served in the U.S. Army and is a Korean war veteran. He was remembered across social media by colleagues and fans alike.

Copadice is survived by his wife, Jane, and daughters, Tessa De Pierro and Cassandra Hansen.
