John F. Kennedy's only grandson announces bid for retiring Dem lawmaker's House seat
Democrats are desperate to win back seats in the House of Representatives and ultimately take back majority control, as the margins are already razor-thin. Apparently, they're pulling out some of the big guns, at least in name recognition, to accomplish that.
According to Just The News, Jack Schlossberg, the only grandson of former President John F. Kennedy, has announced his intentions to run for a House seat in his New York congressional district.
Schlossberg is hoping to retain the seat that will be vacated by Rep. Jerry Nadler (D-NY) after he retires when his term is up.
The former president's grandson doesn't have a large field of competition, but he will be going up against Democratic Assemblyman Micah Lasher, who was a former aide to Nadler and other powerful New York Democrats. Lasher also happens to be a political ally of New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani.
What's going on?
Schlossberg's official statement included a typical jab at President Donald Trump and his administration's policies.
“It’s a cost-of-living crisis fueled by the president’s so-called ‘big beautiful bill,’ the biggest cut to social programs in history. A corruption crisis as the president rakes in cash while carving up our government and selling it to the highest bidder,” he said in a statement.
He added, "And it’s a constitutional crisis — one man is in control of all three branches of government, using his power to suspend civil rights, silence dissent, and send armed forces into our cities."
Schlossberg claimed that "America is in crisis" and said that's one of the reasons why he's running for the House seat.
"We can do better," he continued. "The Democratic Party must win back the House of Representatives and elect a new generation of leaders."
Jack Schlossberg is running to fill the House seat from NYC that Jerry Nadler will be leaving.
Schlossberg is famously the grandson of JFK.
Are all Democrat candidates insane?

Social media reacts
Let's just say that users across social media weren't exactly thrilled about Schlossberg's announcement.
"JFK would be mortified this look is his grandson. Could you imagine what old Joe Kennedy would say?" one X user wrote.
Another X user wrote, "From the frying pan of Nadler to the fire of Schlossberg. The Lord needs to protect NYC."
It'll be interesting to see if he gains enough traction to win the seat.
