Earlier this year, the Department of Transportation began a review of infrastructure grants which were approved under former President Joe Biden.

While that resulted in a number of projects being defunded, Sen. John Fetterman recently praised a Trump administration official for joining with him to get some of the money unfrozen.

Over $1 billion released for projects in Pennsylvania

According to The Philadelphia Inquirer, Fetterman boasted that $1.2 billion will be made available for 53 projects in the Keystone State.

What's more, the freshman senator also offered kind words for Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy regarding his handling of the matter.

"When I stopped by Secretary Duffy’s office in April, he readily and graciously received me for an unannounced visit," Fetterman was quoted as saying in a statement.

"I came in good faith to work across the aisle and fight for these endangered infrastructure projects," he recalled before noting, "More than $1 billion in funding that was at risk is now back on track."

Senator calls Duffy a "man of his word"

The senator went on to call Duffy a "man of his word" for having "put politics aside and affirmed that our nation’s infrastructure is bipartisan."

Fetterman reiterated that message in a social media post, writing, "I’ve made clear I’d work across the aisle, find common ground, and secure wins for PA."

"After a few good-faith meetings, I thank [Secretary Duffy] for being a man of his word and putting politics aside. We will now have $1 BILLION in infrastructure funding released for our commonwealth," he added.

Fetterman endorsed Trump's strike on Iran

This is far from being the first time that Fetterman has voiced support for President Donald Trump's administration, as in June he endorsed a military strike on nuclear facilities in Iran.

"As I’ve long maintained, this was the correct move by [President Trump]," Fetterman wrote in a social media post on June 22.

"Iran is the world’s leading sponsor of terrorism and cannot have nuclear capabilities. I’m grateful for and salute the finest military in the world," he continued.

Fetterman additionally included a screenshot of an earlier Truth Social post in which Trump provided details concerning the military operation.
