The brazen murder of health insurance executive Brian Thompson on a New York City street last week was met with celebration by some on the political left.

Yet in a move which is sure to leave his critics seething, Pennsylvania Democratic Sen. John Fetterman broke ranks and condemned their behavior.

Fetterman calls killing "indefensible"

As Fox News reported, Fetterman put up a social media post this past weekend in which he reacted angrily to a New York Magazine article which suggested that Thompson's killing was "inevitable."

"No shortage of sh---y takes on the 2024 election or on this assassination," the Democratic lawmaker wrote on Saturday.

"The public execution of an innocent man and father of two is indefensible, not 'inevitable,'" Fetterman went on to insist.

He concluded by saying, that "[c]ondoning and cheering this on says more about YOU than the situation of health insurance."

And people wonder why we want these executives dead"

According to Fox New, one of those who moved to justify Thompson's death was former Washington Post contributor Taylor Lorenz.

"And people wonder why we want these executives dead," Lorenz was quoted as writing in a post on the left-leaning social media platform Blue Sky.

She also included an article detailing how Blue Cross Blue Shield will no longer cover anesthesia for the full length of some surgeries.

Lorenz later doubled-down on her remarks the following day in a Substack article, writing, "People have very justified hatred toward insurance company CEOs because these executives are responsible for an unfathomable amount of death and suffering."

Suspect found with gun, silencer, and fake ID

"I think it’s good to call out this broken system and the people in power who enable it. Again, not so they can be murdered, but so that we can change the system and start holding people in power accountable for their actions," she declared.

Meanwhile, Fox News noted that police arrested 26-year-old Maryland resident Luigi Nicholas Mangione in Altoona, Pennsylvania on Monday morning after he was spotted in a McDonald's.

Mangione was found in possession of a fake ID along with a firearm and silencer similar to the ones used in Thompson's murder.
