Actress Julia Roberts is speaking out after a long silence regarding her reflections on her former boyfriend Matthew Perry's death.

The "Friends" actor passed away in a drowning in California on Oct. 28 at the age of 54.

The comments

“The sudden passing of anybody so young is heartbreaking,” she told “Entertainment Tonight.” “I think that, you know, it just helps all of us just appreciate what we have and to keep going in a positive way as best we can.”

“They were all so welcoming to me as just a kind of a one-off character, and it was a really fun time,” she added.

Perry's thoughts

“Dating Julia Roberts had been too much for me,” Perry wrote in his memoir. “I had been constantly certain that she was going to break up with me. Why would she not?”

“I was not enough; I could never be enough; I was broken, bent, unloveable. So instead of facing the inevitable agony of losing her, I broke up with the beautiful and brilliant Julia Roberts.”

Cause for concern

"It’s easy to understand why Roberts has been careful in her remarks concerning Perry’s death, which occurred last month when the actor was found dead of an apparent drowning at his home in Los Angeles," Huff Post reported.

"Perry, who wrote about his three-month relationship with Roberts in his 2022 memoir, 'Friends, Lovers and the Big Terrible Thing,' was pretty open about dumping her due to his own fragile ego," it noted.

The sudden passing of Perry had a massive response by fans of the popular "Friends" actor.

Co-stars referred to his passing as the loss of a "brother," noting him as the first of the main cast members to die.

The words from Roberts were carefully shared and slowly unfolded noting her concern for Perry and the sensitive situation over his recent death that has rocked the generation that grew up with the popular television show that ran throughout the 1990s.
