A drunk driver came close to hitting Kamala Harris' motorcade while she was campaigning in Wisconsin on Monday.

The 55-year-old suspect was driving the wrong way on I-94 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin around 8:30 p.m. CT.

The suspect entered the highway from the off-ramp and drove past Harris' entire motorcade in the wrong direction, video obtained by WISN shows.

Kamala's drunk driving scare

The man appeared to be going at a low rate of speed in his white SUV as he drove west in the eastbound lanes.

The last cars in the motorcade pulled him over and made an arrest. The suspect was confused and had no recollection of entering the freeway, the police report said.

When told he almost hit Harris' motorcade, "he was extremely surprised and had no recollection of entering the freeway or coming close to striking another vehicle."

The man also said he had no intention of harming Kamala Harris or anyone in her campaign.

The suspect had an open can of beer in his car and failed multiple field sobriety tests. He was arrested for drunken driving and second-degree recklessly endangering safety.

Harris campaign panics

This is the second traffic incident involving the Harris-Walz campaign, and the second to occur in Milwaukee.

The back of the motorcade carrying Harris' running mate, Tim Walz, crashed while traveling in the city last month. Journalists traveling with Walz received a violent jolt, injuring one reporter.

The Harris campaign thanked the Milwaukee Sheriff's Office for their response to the drunk driving incident.

"The U.S. Secret Service is aware of the incident involving a motorist traveling in the opposite direction on the highway while the Vice President was in her motorcade. We are grateful to the Milwaukee Sheriff's Office for their response which allowed them to stop the motorist and take the driver into custody for DUI," the Harris campaign said.

The close call in Milwaukee comes as Harris scrambles to lock down support in critical "blue wall" states, including Wisconsin. Democratic insiders fear Harris' hold on the Midwest is slipping, jeopardizing her path to re-election, NBC reported.
