Kamala Harris' former lover, Willie Brown, demands Biden resign immediately and make her president

Vice President Kamala Harris is the talk of the town now that she is suddenly the chosen one in the wake of President Joe Biden stepping out of the 2024 presidential race.

While she might temporarily enjoy the extra spotlight from the media, there's no doubt that her past will be especially highlighted -- perhaps parts of it she would have rather everyone forgotten.

According to the New York Post, Harris' former lover, ex mayor of San Francisco Willie Brown, is suddenly back in the headlines, and suggested Biden should resign immediately.

He went on to say that he believes Biden should resign from the presidency and make Harris the president right now.

Why'd he say it?

His suggestion echoed similar calls from other Democrats. Brown believes that Harris would stand a much stronger chance at beating former President Donald Trump in November as a sitting president instead of the Democratic nominee.

"Her chances go up if he would at this moment say not only am I no longer the candidate, I’m no longer the president — she is," Brown told a local newspaper.

His other concern, like many other Democrats, is that the party is in disarray as far as who it will ultimately select as the nominee. While Harris has the support on paper, anything could happen in the next four months.

The NY Post noted:

Brown also said it would clear up the turmoil that the party has been tossed into since Biden withdrew from the election Sunday — saying such a move would “silence all of this nonsense about how best to select some new nominee.

Brown, who dated Harris in the mid-1990s, believes that she stands an excellent chance at beating Trump, despite repeated polling that tells a completely different story -- not to mention Harris' previous polling numbers were lower than Biden's in many instances.

"When they watch Kamala Harris exchange views with Trump, there’ll be no question. The gender of the candidate will not make the difference," Brown said.

Social media reacts

Users across social media had their own ideas about Brown's statement.

"Willie wanting to get in on the White House gig?" one X user wrote.

Another X user wrote, "Is he looking for a place to stay?"

While Biden has pledged to finish out his term, it wasn't long ago that he had pledged to stay in the race, so nothing's off the table at this point in the game.
