Kamala Harris' stepdaughter encouraged her social media followers to donate to a Palestinian aid organization with alleged ties to Hamas.

24-year-old Ella Emhoff, whose father Doug Emhoff is Jewish, shared a link over Instagram to send money to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA).

Initially formed by the UN to aid Palestinian refugees after the founding of modern Israel, the UNRWA has in recent years been accused of ties to terrorism.

The agency is the largest employer in Gaza, and several of its members were reported to have played a role in the October 7 assault by Hamas.

The Biden administration said it was "extremely troubled" by those reports and pressed pause on funding to the agency in January.

Ella Emhoff asked for donations to the controversial agency on Instagram, but later removed the post after coming under scrutiny from the New York Post.

“UNRWA has blood on its hands. And VP Harris knows this – or she should. I hope she’ll tell as many people as she can,” said Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Ca.), a senior member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee.

Funding for the UNRWA was left out of a stalled $95 billion foreign aid package, and it remains an issue as Congress debates spending for the fiscal year.

Some Democrats have continued to back the agency, citing the humanitarian crisis unfolding in Gaza.

“The fact of the matter is, there’s no replacement for UNRWA — there’s none — even to get humanitarian aid and food [into Gaza],” New York Democrat Gregory Meeks, a senior member of the Foreign Affairs committee, said.

Family tradition...

While president Biden was initially unequivocal about supporting Israel after October 7, his administration has shifted focus to the suffering of Palestinians in war-torn Gaza. Vice president Kamala Harris called for a cease-fire in a recent speech, echoing demands from liberals who have accused Israel of engaging in genocide.

"Given the immense scale of suffering in Gaza, there must be an immediate ceasefire for at least the next 6 weeks. This is what is currently on the table," she said.

Harris has faced frequent criticism that she is not suited for her top role. Her rise to the vice presidency was marked by controversy when she asked supporters to bail out rioters during the George Floyd protests of 2020.

It appears Harris' stepdaughter is keeping a family tradition alive.
