Vice President Kamala Harris is leading the White House this week as President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden spend the week vacationing in Delaware.

Harris is using the week to appear in several media appearances as she takes charges during the Biden's vacation.

The opportunity

"One former Harris aide told the Hill the increased visibility is regarded as a clear positive for the vice president, giving her a platform with the Democratic base, with donors and with leaders in key swing states as she seeks to solidify her role for 2024 and beyond," Breitbart News reported.

“If I were her, I’d want to have a visible role heading into the election sending my ire at Republicans who are saying and doing insane things,” the aide said.

The schedule

"Harris sat down with ABC News for a nationally televised interview that aired Monday in which she weighed in on the plight of migrants being bused to Washington, D.C., access to reproductive health care and a debate over the United States’s history of slavery — taking aim once again at Florida GOP Gov. Ron DeSantis," the Hill reported.

"On Tuesday, Harris will head to Orlando, Fla., where she will speak in DeSantis’s backyard at the African Methodist Episcopal (AME) Women’s Missionary Convention," it continued.

DeSantis invites for debate

Gov. DeSantis challenged Harris to a debate during her Florida visit to "set the record straight" on the state's new Black history standards.

“In Florida we are unafraid to have an open and honest dialogue about the issues. And you clearly have no trouble ducking down to Florida on short notice,” DeSantis wrote.

“So given your grave concern (which, I must assume, is sincere) about what you think our standards say, I am officially inviting you back down to Florida to discuss our African American History standards. We will be happy to host you in Tallahassee,” he added.

No response was provided by the office of the vice president regarding her trip which was announced at the last minute.

Harris may be more visible this week but that might not be good news as the vice president's public gaffes have continued to mark her time in office.
