Vice President Kamala Harris is set to visit Minnesota next week to promote the Biden administration's focus on electric vehicles and emphasize the party's economic agenda.

The scheduled visit comes just after President Joe Biden's State of the Union address that expects to highlight his economic efforts for Americans.

The plan

"Harris' visit to St. Cloud is meant to highlight the connection between investments in electric vehicles and good jobs, according to the White House," the Star Tribune reported.

"President Joe Biden and other cabinet members will be traveling to more than 20 states following Biden's scheduled address to a joint session of Congress Tuesday night, as they try to connect policies like the bipartisan infrastructure law to job growth and rising wages," it added.

The details

Harris will go to St. Cloud on Feb. 9 to "highlight how the Administration's investments in electric vehicles are creating good-paying, union jobs," according to CBS News.

A White House official said the president's Tuesday address will "underscore the significant progress our nation has made during one of the most challenging periods in our history" and look ahead to the next two years.

Republicans are expected to offer a strong rebuttal to the president's speech on Tuesday.

Republican response

Arkansas GOP Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders is scheduled to offer the party's remarks following Biden's State of the Union address.

"Americans are still struggling from inflation, a border crisis, record crime, and a failing school system. As House Republicans work to fix these problems in Congress with our Commitment to America, Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders is addressing them head on with her conservative agenda outside of Washington," House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) said.

"The youngest governor in America, Sarah is fighting on behalf of parents, small businesses and ordinary taxpayers," he added.

The speech by the president is expected to focus on Biden's progressive policies and highlight the left's agenda ahead of the president's plans to announce a run for reelection in 2024.
