Kamala's ex Montel Williams' social media is a big mess
Vice President Kamala Harris's life has been under growing scrutiny following the announcement that President Joe Biden was stepping down from his 2024 presidential campaign.
To that end, the love life of the possible first female president has, of course, been a subject of interest to many, particularly considering the rumors that have circulated about Harris.
However, in an unexpected turn of events, actor and television host Motel Williams has been experiencing a strange surge in attention, considering his previous relationship with the vice president.
Williams, who has had a relatively uninteresting social media account until now, has been posting, deleting, and generally causing confusion on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Attention on Williams
Vanity Fair reported that the actor's romantic past with Harris hit headlines when posters like "Catturd" started pointing to some of Harris's previous partners.
In addition to the less-known posters, former congressional candidate and far-right activist Laura Loomer expressed her thoughts about the relationship, tweeting about what could be the next president of the United States, drawing attention to her past.
Because of the nature of Loomer's content, some of it was flagged as "hateful content," something that Loomer called out as "censorship" and “arguably Election interference by big tech.”
Loomer and others have been on a crusade to ensure that nothing about the not-voted on a presidential candidate is washed away as the Democrat party scrambles to put a viable candidate opposite former President Donald Trump.
Williams' Response
Following the announcement that President Joe Biden would be stepping down from his position, Williams initially sent a message on Sunday expressing his support for Wes Moore, the governor of Maryland.
In the message, Williams stated that he “would love to see [him] leading the ticket or otherwise on my ballot and I’m ready to campaign.”
Williams reposted Moore's own tweet backing Harris on Monday, and then later tweeted about that retweet.
Because of this, he has been deleting and retweeting a lot of tweets since then.
Strange Coverage
He has re-shared posts from people who have congratulated him on his Catturd convos (and erased them), as well as his publicity representative's vow to publish screenshots of journalists' demands for comment from Williams regarding Harris (and removed them).
Representatives for Williams called questions and inquiries around whether Williams and Harris had stayed in touch as “creepy, misogynistic question[s].”
Williams, for all intents and purposes, appears to be drawing on the positive from the entire situation.
“I’d like to welcome my new followers and thank those of you who have stood by me all these years,” he tweeted Monday. “I appreciate you.”
