Kari Lake says that she is done running for office
Kari Lake recently suggested that she is no longer interested in running for a political office.
The Washington Examiner reports that Lake made the comment at Turning Point USA's AmericaFest event.
This comes after Lake suffered another defeat in the 2024 elections. There will be more on this in a moment.
First, though, we will take a look at what exactly Lake had to say about her political future.
"I don't want to run again"
While at the AmericaFest, Lake was asked about her political future. It was in response to this question that she revealed that she is probably going to step away from seeking political official for the foreseeable future.
She said:
We’re not where we need to be on elections. And that’s one of the reasons I don’t want to run again, to be honest. Why put yourself through that torture again?
Lake is a pro-Trump Republican who has not been afraid to speak out about America's election. She, like Trump, believes that there are serious problems with elections, problems that could and have undermined results. Opponents of Lake, however, have used this questioning of election results against her, claiming that she is just another right-wing conspiracy theorist.
Although Lake is not going to be pursuing political office, it does not appear as though she is going to give politics up altogether.
At the event, she went on to say, "I am gonna go help President Trump in Washington, D.C. That’s what I’m gonna do."
Background
This past election cycle, Lake attempted to become one of Arizona's U.S. Senators. She faced off against Democrat Ruben Gallego, and she ended up losing in a hotly contested race.
The Examiner reports, "Lake lost to Gallego 50.1% to 47.7%, while Trump outpaced Vice President Kamala Harris 52.2% to 46.7%."
This was not Lake's first major election defeat. The Examiner also reports that she "lost a narrow gubernatorial race in 2022 to Gov. Katie Hobbs (D-AZ)."
The question after Lake's most recent loss was what her political future looks like. There was some talk about her potentially running to become the next governor of Arizona. This idea, however, was quickly thrown out after Trump endorsed Republican Karrin Taylor Robson in the gubernatorial race.
With all of this in mind, it would appear that Lake's political career, at least for the foreseeable future, is over - or has at least been put on hold. There is no doubt, though, that Lake will continue to do as she says, namely, to help Trump and Republicans in whatever way possible.
