Kash Patel says legal case against James Comey is far from resolved

Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Director Kash Patel says that the legal case against ex-FBI Director James Comey is not over yet.

This comes, according to the Washington Examiner, after a federal judge recently tossed the case that had been brought against Comey by the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ).

It should not come as a surprise that the Trump administration is not done with Comey just yet, as the case was only dismissed on unrelated procedural grounds.

"We're not done."

Patel recently participated in an interview with the Epoch Times, and it was there that he indicated that the Comey case is far from over.

He said:

The judicial process can make whatever determination it wants, but we at the FBI and our partners at the DOJ have numerous options to proceed, and we’re executing on all those options. So we’re not done.

Patel even teased an announcement about the case that he said would come after the Thanksgiving holiday.

The Examiner reports, "Patel also teased an announcement to come after the Thanksgiving holiday, which will include 'multiple responses' from federal law enforcement agencies."

At the time of this writing, this announcement has yet to be made.

Background

It was U.S. District Judge Cameron Currie who, last week, dismissed the case against Comey, as well as the case against New York Attorney General Letitia James (D).

Fox News reported:

. . . U.S. District Judge Cameron Currie dismissed the criminal indictments against Comey and James, and ruled that the prosecutor who brought the cases, Lindsey Halligan, had not been lawfully appointed. The judge agreed with Comey’s defense, which argued that Halligan’s appointment as interim U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia was invalid, meaning the indictments were defective.

As you can see, though, no ruling was made on the merits of either case.

U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi quickly indicated that the Trump administration will be fixing the problem in filing new charges.

She said:

We’ll be taking all available legal action, including an immediate appeal, to hold Letitia James and James Comey accountable for their unlawful conduct. I’m not worried about someone who has been charged with a very serious crime. His alleged actions were a betrayal of public trust.
