Lara Trump demands Epstein files be released 'soon'
In a move that pits her against her father-in-law and his attorney general, Pam Bondi, Lara Trump has said that the Jeffrey Epstein files need to be released "soon."
"I do think that there needs to be more transparency on this, and I think that that will happen," Trump said about the files on Trump ally Benny Johnson's podcast on Monday.
"I mean, look, I don't know what truly exists there, but I know that this is something that's important to the president as well," she added.
Many MAGA movement leaders have been demanding the release of information the DOJ has on Epstein and his alleged client list, which Bondi claimed to have on her desk mere months ago.
Bondi flipped
Last week, Bondi flipped and said there was no Epstein client list and no new information to release.
A lot of MAGA faithful are not buying that explanation, however.
The media is trumpeting a "MAGA civil war" over the DOJ's assertions, but that's probably a tad overdramatic.
Lara Trump further said about the Epstein files, "I believe that there will probably be more coming on this. And I believe anything that they are able to release that doesn't, you know, damage any witnesses or anyone underage or anything like that, I believe they'll probably try to get out sooner rather than later."
Meanwhile, President Donald Trump and Bondi are trying to move on amid conspiracy theories from both the left and right.
What is Trump doing?
Some think the president's name was in the files and he's trying to hide damaging information about himself.
Others think he's trying to use the files for leverage against his political opponents, even some Republicans.
Everyone is pretty sure there is damaging information in the files and that for some reason, Trump doesn't want it going public right now.
Lara Trump attempted to quiet those voices and reassure MAGA allies that they would eventually find out what the Epstein files contain.
She said,
To everybody out there who's all worked up about it, there's no great plot to keep this information away that I'm aware of. I do just believe that maybe it's been slow-rolled for reasons that hopefully we understand down the line. And I think we're probably gonna get more transparency on it very soon.
