Lara Trump, the daughter-in-law of President Donald Trump, sent shockwaves through the North Carolina political world when it was revealed this week that she's potentially interested in running for high office.

According to Newsmax and other reports, Lara Trump could make a run for a North Carolina Senate seat, and the news is so overwhelming for the state that GOP hopefuls in the wings are awaiting final world on her decision so as to not waste time or money trying to beat her.

That's because Lara, with her massive MAGA base and golden endorsement from her father-in-law, would easily clear the field if anyone were brave enough -- or dumb enough -- to take her on.

Lara Trump had teased the possibility of running for high office last year but ultimately went a different route. However, she left the door open and now she might actually walk through it.

What's going on?

Due to her tremendous influence and backing from an extremely popular president of the United States, Lara Trump could say the word and easily secure the nomination, and likely the Senate seat.

She has the money, power, influence and street cred to pull it off, and many in North Carolina and Washington D.C. believe that's exactly what's she will ultimately do.

"The field is gonna be frozen," one political operative close to the White House reportedly told Politico. "She has the right of first refusal."

The idea of her running for the seat comes as Sen. Thom Tillis of North Carolina announced earlier this week that he will not be running for reelection, leaving open the possibility of Lara Trump securing the seat.

Politico noted: “I think people are really smart enough to not go in there,” said another person close to the White House. “Everybody’s kind of just been like, ‘it’s Lara’s if she wants it,’ The ball is in Lara Trump’s court. It’s that simple.”
