Lara Trump to promote healthy living as host of new television show
Lara Trump raised eyebrows late last year when she decided to step down from her role as Republican National Committee co-chair.
However, the president's daughter-in-law recently provided more information regarding her new career move.
Mrs. Trump will promote healthy living on Fox News show
According to Fox News, Mrs. Trump will be joining the network as host of "My View with Lara Trump," which is set to air on Saturday evenings.
Mrs. Trump is known as an advocate for healthy eating, and she said in an interview that the topic will feature prominently on her show.
"Whenever you go to the grocery store or whenever you prepare food for your children, you really wonder, what is it that you're feeding them?" Fox News quoted her as saying.
"And you hear so much about the fact that we in the United States don't have the same standards as other countries. You wonder, why is that? And am I doing the best I possibly can for my children?" she continued.
"I think that people want transparency"
Mrs. Trump went on to say that such concerns explain growing interest in the "Make America Healthy Again" movement and is also the reason why her father-in-law made Robert F. Kennedy Jr. his secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS).
"And we want to know that the food we're giving our kids is actually going to make them healthier and not make them sicker," Mrs. Trump pointed out.
She stressed that as "an American, it's very concerning whenever you think about the fact that we are the richest country in the world. We have the most resources at our fingertips."
And "yet, for some reason," Mrs. Trump noted, "our population continues to get sicker and people are starting to die earlier. That is very concerning as well."
Children enjoying sports as part of an active lifestyle
"You always want the future generation to live longer and have a better life than you. And it's kind of concerning to a lot of moms, myself included, that right now it almost doesn't feel like we can say that," she added.
Mrs. Trump also talked about the danger of living a sedentary lifestyle, stating that her children are "enjoying all their sports right now. Jujitsu, basketball, football, gymnastics. They're having a great time."
"I try to expose my kids to that as much as I can and hope that they pick up on it, and that one day they'll choose it for themselves when they have the ability to decide what it is they want to do," she stated.
