Fox News reported late last week that the Republican National Committee (RNC) is now "under the thumb of former President Donald Trump."

As evidence, it pointed to the fact that the RNC has confirmed Michael Whatley and Trump's daughter-in-law as its chair and co-chair.

Lara Trump says election day victory is RNC's "one goal"

"Over the next eight months, the RNC will work hand in glove with President Trump," Whatley announced in his acceptance speech on Friday.

Lara Trump spoke up as well, stating that the organization's "one goal" is to win on November 5, adding, "And as my father-in-law says, bigly."

Mediate noted that Mrs. Trump also talked up the need for additional fundraising and boasted of having already secured a major donation.

At the RNC meeting in Houston Friday, Lara Trump held up a check, saying,

Mrs. Trump pledges that "every penny" will go to father-in-law's campaign

"We have to raise a lot of money. And I have great news," the newly elected RNC co-chair told supporters in Houston.

"I brought this up here today because I wanted everyone to know that, already, I have a check for the Republican National Committee that's $100,000 that has been donated as of today, as of these nominations going through," Mrs. Trump said.

Mediate noted that during an interview with Newsmax last month, Mrs. Trump made no secret of where she thinks the RNC should be concentrating its resources.

"Every single penny will go to the number one and the only job of the RNC. That is electing Donald J. Trump as president of the United States and saving this country," she declared.

Promise to avoid frivolous expenses

"We have no time to waste. We’ve got to get to work. We’ve got a lot of money to raise and we need to ensure that every penny goes to those things that I just mentioned," Mrs. Trump continued.

She also condemned the RNC's spending priorities under Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel, insisting that "there will not be any more $70,000 or whatever exorbitant amount of money it was spent on flowers."

"The RNC needs to be the leanest, most lethal political fighting machine we’ve ever seen in American history," Mrs. Trump asserted.

She also agreed with Newsmax host Rob Schmitt's complaint that Republicans have been less effective when it comes to early voting and ballot harvesting.
