President Joe Biden is facing pressure to issue some last-second pardons.

This is according to a new report from the Washington Examiner.

The report looks at several big pardons Biden could issue during the final weeks of his presidency.

The biggest question of all, of course, is whether Biden will issue a pardon for his son, Hunter Biden.

The latest

Hunter Biden has been found guilty of crimes.

The Examiner reports:

Biden’s second son was convicted of three federal gun-related felony charges in June after he divulged that he had illegally owned a gun while a drug user. The president’s embattled son, 54, has also been the subject of a federal criminal investigation that dates back to 2018. In September, he pleaded guilty to a slew of tax charges.

Hunter Biden has yet to be sentenced following the conviction. Many have been wondering what the chances are that he will receive prison time. Legal experts do not believe that it is likely.

The question, for months now, has been whether Biden will pardon his son. The White House has insisted that it will not happen, despite support from some outside the White House to do so.

The Examiner explains why Biden, despite what the White House has said, may pardon his son anyway. As the outlet put it, "as the lame duck whose party will not be taking over the White House come January 2025, Joe Biden has little to lose politically."

Other possibilities

The Examiner looks at four other possible pardons that we could see from Biden during the closing weeks of his administration. The list includes "Trump's perceived enemies."

This would include those individuals, such as special counsel Jack Smith, who have weaponized the legal system against President-Elect Donald Trump on behalf of the Biden-Harris administration. It would also include the likes of Dr. Anthony Fauci.

If Biden were to move forward with these pardons, these would be preemptive pardons, since none of these individuals has been convicted of a crime.

Then, there is the possibility that Biden could actually pardon Trump. Experts believe this is highly unlikely, although some argue it could be good for the country.

Finally, the Examiner suggests that Biden could pardon Julian Assange, the Wikileaks founder and that Biden could issue "blanket pardons to end mass incarceration." Time will tell whether or not Biden decides to do any of these things. Some are certainly more likely than others.
